Optimization Engine
Network Planning & Optimization

The Optimization Engine is at the very heart of our ActixOne optimization platform. The Optimization Engine models the mobile network using a variety of data sources from network OSS to subscriber trace to planning data. Using the model, the engine can rapidly explore a mind-boggling set of potential configuration changes and identify the optimal solution for a given set of performance and financial objectives.

During the planning phase, the engine can optimize site locations for new builds or technology overlays. During live network operation, the engine can determine antenna, neighbor list and other parameter changes that resolve problems or improve performance & capacity.

Neighbor list and antenna algorithms select optimal settings from billions of possible solutions.

The Optimization Engine powers two classes of automated solution-finding algorithms:

  • Semi-automatic optimization algorithms are engineer driven, providing recommended solutions and what-if tools
  • Fully automatic optimization algorithms (SON Algorithms) may be run in fully automatic, autonomous mode with no human intervention required

Semi-automatic optimization algorithms are designed to automate existing optimization processes with minor disruption, by allowing the engineer to use solution recommendations in conjunction with a rich set of what-if and analysis tools.

Automatic optimization algorithms take the last step towards the self-optimizing vision, by providing a fully automatic, unattended approach to optimization.
