There's only one way to gather intelligence on your competitor's data and voice networks: that's by performing drive surveys on pre-defined routes using mobile devices for each network. Many operators outsource the collection of the data to third parties and the majority of them also outsource the collection, processing and report generation.
The result is that operators receive a static report every quarter or 6 months, typically 1-2 months after the actual drives were performed, along with a massive amount of raw data. The static reports typically offer little flexibility for slicing and dicing the data to address specific questions.
Given the dynamic nature of the network, and the delay in receiving the report, acting on competitive weaknesses in areas where the network has changed is simply not realistic. New data must be collected to verify the problem, before any action can be taken. Even in problem areas where the network has been static, the massive amount of data produced can make it incredibly difficult to find a specific problem and diagnose the root cause. A typical large metropolitan area will generate up to 100 GB of raw data which must be processed, aggregated and analyzed.

Furthermore, users may seamlessly drill from high-level benchmarking statistics to analytics for finding and resolving problems to enable immediate changes to be made to the network.
